VIVE LA TARTE: Are these croissants worth it? Or just another IG gimmick.

There’s nothing worse than DRIVING in San Francisco, waiting in a long ass line, and using your rent money to pay for a not-so-good meal that you saw on Instagram.

….which (with the right editing) probably looked BOMB AF IN A PHOTO.

Total buzzkill, right??

I mean, I’ve been there MANY TIMES. (ugh, Instagram… oh how many times you’ve steered me wrong!)

I’m all about the taste and quality. So if a photo LOOKS amazing, but the food doesn’t taste good… I won’t post it. I feel like all food bloggers should adopt this motto?

Anyways… end rant.

Let’s talk about these croissants from Vive La Tarte.

Because in my opinion… these are one of the best damn croissants I’ve ever had.

Pretty? CHECK.

Healthy? eh. Not so much.

Tasty? HELL YEEEHHHH.

Every layer is buttery and flakey. The inside is fluffy and has just the right amount of filling.

I ate four of them in one sitting… I don’t suggest doing that. But hey, I’m not judging.

Okay, enough about the croissants. Get them, and you’ll thank me later.

Vive La Tarte has an industrial, airy, warehouse vibe. As soon as you walk in, you’ll see a really cool bleacher-style sitting area to your left.

Make your way towards the back, and there’s sure to be a line of people waiting to place their order. From here, you’ll find yourself standing in front of a food counter with everything from pizza to cheesecakes to quiches.

You can also order from the menu: avocado toast, salads, sandwiches, etc. Once you place your order, they’ll give you a number and bring the food out to your table.

On the other side of the place is a coffee bar.

So whether you want to come for the croissants, the IG photo, the food, or the coffee… Vive La Tarte has you covered.

This place is perfect for a coffee date, to catch up with friends, or to dine solo.

Vive La Tarte sucks!!! There menu is not striking. Plus, I could give two licks about their space.

You need to travel to France to be able to appreciate a good croissant. Vive La Tarte’s croissant is pedestrian at best. On top of being inconsistent, I tried their croissants three different times and twice, it was undercooked! In fact, as a french pastry chef, decorating the top of a croissant is just “wrong.” What is all this extra muck on the croissant? It’s straight up nasty.

I have to disagree. The best croissant in the bay area is Tartine. It’s simple. It’s light. It’s airy. It’s France.

Take your cute little photos and empty opinions and step.
