OMG OMG OMG!
I’m sooooooo excited (literally jumping up & down) to share this Refinery 29 video with you guys!
My friend Evelina Barry came to visit San Francisco and since she only had 24 hours, I took her to some of my FAV foodie spots around the city. Check out our “Daycation” here:
The Rundown:
We started our day at Mr. Holmes Bakehouse (DUH. Gotta get there early- 8:30am or else everything will be sold out)
Then we went off to explore one of my favorite places in the city: Chinatown. Walking through San Francisco’s Chinatown literally feels like you’ve been transported into Asia. I swear, most people don’t speak English here! I had to bust out my broken Cantonese to try to communicate with the vendors (I may have told them that we were movie stars or something lol).
We stumbled upon a charming kite shop (we both have never flown one before, so that was interesting and fun!)
For lunch, we grabbed dim sum at Good Mong Kok Bakery (everything is so good and SOOOO cheap! We got a ton of food for only $6 bucks).
Side: I’d recommend this walk-in dim sum spot to anyone who doesn’t have time for a (sit-down) meal, but still wants some bombass BBQ pork buns and dumplings.
Since they don’t have seats inside, we took our food (and kite) to the beach.
If it’s your first time coming to San Francisco, I’d recommend checking out Crissy Fields. It’s a real gem because the views here are insane- you’re at the beach, but you’re also standing right next to the Golden Gate Bridge!
Next, I took Evelina to check out the Ferry Building– this is such a cool marketplace! It’s pretty much a food lover’s paradise- you’ll find everything from fresh fruits, to meats, to bakeries, to oyster stands!
There’s also a ton of awesome restaurants to eat inside the Ferry Building, but if there’s ONE place you HAVE TO try, it’s Hog Island Oyster Co.
This is where we ended our day with some champagne and delicious food. Try the grilled cheese and clam chowder- thank me later.
And that concludes our Daycation! Hope you guys enjoyed this video series with Refinery 29. For more videos, check out their YouTube channel HERE.
*Thank you Julia Robbs for taking all these awesome photos! (<– isn’t she amaze?!)
