Sometimes you just wanna get away.
Away from a sea of cubicles…
Away from the constant barrage of work emails…
Away from nagging text messages …
And sometimes it’s nice to sit back, relax, and disconnect.
At Samovar Tea Lounge, you can do just that.
Well… besides using your phone to take awesome pics of this gorgeous San Francisco skyline
Samovar is one of those places that embodies a certain type of belief and a certain lifestyle. And if you experience a meal here, you might just experience their mantra: “practice peace, drink tea.”
They offer different types of tea services from all around the globe: Japanese, Chinese, English, Russian, Etc.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with tea services, every meal is paired with a special type of tea to compliment their food. At Samovar, their teas originate from Europe to Asia and are all carefully chosen to assure freshness (which also explains the prices).
Now onto the food. They have a ton of vegan, gluten- free, and healthy options to choose from.
(But to be quite honest, the food wasn’t AMAZING, but it wasn’t bad either.)
Here’s what we had:
Chinese Tea Service with Blood Orange Pu-Erh Tea – $22 –
Served with smoked duck, veggie stir fry, squash dumplings, and rice.
Japanese Tea Service with Ryokucha Green Tea – $23 –
Served with Smoked Salmon, Wakame Seaweed Salad, Seasoned Brown Rice, Steamed Kale, Squash, Toasted Nori, and Seasonal Soup.
Paleolithic Tea Service with Houjicha Green Tea – $20 –
Served with smoked salmon, squash, kale salad, and steamed beets
(the salmon is super dry, I would pass on this next time)
Along with their tea/lunch combos, they also serve fresh eats like veggie sandwiches, rice bowls with poached eggs, hearty salads and other mini delights. They also have a ton of teas to choose from, which makes this a perfect place to sit back, relax, and enjoy the beautiful SF views –> while sipping on the best masala chai I’ve ever had.
While the food needs work, the gorgeous views and amazing quality teas make this place an cool little spot to catch up with old friends, or even to just get away from ugly life stresses. Plus, I don’t think I’ll ever get over these views!
Practice Peace. Drink Tea!
