Holy crab! Let’s get crackin!

First off, this place is a total gem and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it on Yelp one random night (4 stars/1900+ reviews) –> Thank you SF Yelpers for leading me here!

PPQ Dungeness Island is a great place to grab dinner with family/friends & definitely the place to be if you’re in the mood for crab in San Francisco.

But just to be clear, this is not ideal for first dates…

UNLESS you’re trying to impress your date with that sexy bib, smell a little fishy, stuff your face with dripping deliciousness, and you don’t give a F- then this is THE place to be.

So now the real question of the night is: “which option of crab should I go with?”

PPQ Dungeness Island gives you a five options:

+Peppercorn Crab

+Roasted Crab

+Drunken Crab

+Curry Crab

+Spicy Crab

We eventually opted for the Roasted Garlic Crab ($40). This was a tough decision since we really wanted to try the Peppercorn too, but you really can’t go wrong with either. The meat inside was sooo juicy and so fresh. The garlic sauce is a perfect compliment to the sweetness of the crab meat. While some of it can be a pain in the butt to get to, PPQ provides nutcrackers that make it easy & sooo worth it.

We also had the Black Peppercorn Chicken Wings (13.95)- These come out sizzling hot and crispy. Save yourself the pain and wait a few minutes before biting into one of these. Being the fat kid that I am, I dipped my garlic roasted crab into the black peppercorn. ZOMG. This was soooo bomb. If you ever come to PPQ after reading this blog post…TRY IT. I swear, this will not disappoint. It was like having the best of both worlds.

Being brought up to always eat a balanced meal, I felt the need to add a veggie plate. We opted for the String Beans (10.95). This was also good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

If you’re coming here with that sexy date, they have a “Deal for 2” for only $55: roasted garlic crab, chicken salad, imperial rolls, garlic noodles and banana fritters.

Oh, I should also mention that I had garlicy crab juices running down my hands  & face the entire meal. And no matter how hard you try to avoid it- you probably will too. Embrace it. Love it. Enjoy it.

That’s really shrewd! Good to see the logic set out so well.

The Nets lost big-time. Will they really want to open their next season without Williams or Wallace and nothing to replace them? Will they really continue to value cap-space when staring down a 2012-Bobcats-like season to open their new arena? For once, I hope.

Omg! My favorite place to nosh on crab! My favorite is the garlic crab, which you had, but I also love me an order of garlic noodles to go with it. Make sure you bring your favorite person with you, cuz your pores are gonna OOZE that garlicky yumminess. After I’m done with the crab, I throw the noodles in all that garlic and crab juice and just mix it all in. SO FREAKIN’ GOOD.

Usually I’ll go with a large party, so we’ll get their set menu. The sea bass is delish. And it’s always nice to end the meal with fried banana and coconut ice cream (the ice cream-can’t find it anywhere else!)

The garlic noodles looked soooo good! I’ll have to try that next time, maybe even mix a lil peppercorn into it too! I’ll also have to try their ice cream, thanks for the recs!

      xoxo,
      Cyn
