Mourad- The most impressive short ribs in SF

San Francisco’s MOST expensive short ribs. Before you laugh at this sentence, understand that:

  1. It’s marinated for 72 hours AKA three days
  2. You don’t even need a knife with it AKA it melts in your mouth
  3. It’s brought to you by the same owner as Aziza (one star Michelin rated restaurant that I totally forgot to blog about).
  4. If you come here with a group of people (4 people), you can split the cost of $145 (~30 a person)
  5. Yes, you read that right. These ribs cost $145 dollars.

If you’re still reading this post, just know that it’s TOTALLY worth it, because Mourad is a new upscale Moroccan restaurant that should be in a class of its own.

Side: I haven’t been this impressed with a restaurant in a veryyyyy long time.

There are a few ways to conquer dinner at Mourad. You could either go for the ~10 course tasting menu ($120 per person) or you can order individual items off their main menu.

If you ask me what route you should take, hands down, skip all the fancy appetizers and go straight to the the family-style entrees which already includes four sides.

Guys. I’m telling you… it was soooooo good, that I came here two days in a row and got the short ribs twice. If you follow me on snapchat, you’d know that I’m not making this up. The sides that accompanied the main dish are: couscous, carrots, potatos and heirloom beans.

Tip: These family style entrees take 30 minutes to make, so make sure to place your order right when you sit down.

Besides those shorts ribs, everything else I had was pretty darn delicious (don’t worry, everything else on the menu is cheaper…But then again, that’s not saying much lol).

As with the ribs, this chicken ($75) is just as exciting. The chicken is well-seasoned, the meat is super tender and very moist (<- bonus points)!

Basically, it puts every other chicken dish in San Francisco to shame (ahem: Nopa)

Above are some of the smaller appetizers/dishes we ordered. While everything was good, it was also small, quite expensive and not worth it (in my opinion). So if I were you, I’d stick with the larger entrees (it already comes with FOUR sides, what else could you need??).


Come to Mourad with a group of people (four or more), so you guys can share everything family- style. It’s the BEST way to do it. (hint hint: double dates, impressing family members, impressing business partners, clients, etc)

The restaurant itself is very hip and modern, and the service is impeccable. They also have a lounge and bar at the front of the restaurant that is first-come first-serve.

So to sum it all up:

I’m 100%  serious, when I say this- don’t even look at the menu, just order the short ribs/chicken right when you sit down, you’ll thank me later!

    urmatoarea intersectie dupa Liberty Center e Sebastian cu Calea Rahovei si cu Calea Ferentari. Altfel spus, unde se termina Sebastian incepe Calea Ferentari. Jur ca asa e pentru ca stau chiar acolo. Doar de trei luni, ce-i drept, dar in Bucuresti stau de cand m-am nascut. Folosesc Liberty Center ca punct de reper pentru ca este o cladire pe care o cunosc majoritatea oamenilor. Nu am inteles de ce m-ai corectat, cumva la intersectia cu Sebastian nu tot cartierul Rahova e?In fine….nu comentez despre cocalari, am vazut si eu destui, dar cred ca asta e valabil pentru majoritatea cartierelor.

    I’m guilty! I’m one of those ppolee!! I always take out my ipod touch since I always carry it with me while listening to music and take pictures of the delicious food that I eat lol.

    I swear, you get to eat all the best places! I’ve been eyeing them since they opened and have been wanting to try their tasting menu. Do you really not recommend it?

      I’ve never had their tasting menu, so I don’t NOT recommend it. I’m sure it’s great because… the chef is pretty much amaz at everything! I do recommend getting the family style entrees if you come with a group :)
