Uhmm… Are you guys seeing what I’m seeing??
Yeah. That’s right.
They call it “The Rebel Within”
I’m slightly infatuated.
And I’m still not sure what kind of sorcery they used to make this…
It’s a biscuit-muffin with sausage, Asiago and Parmesan cheese, green onions, and a farm fresh egg that oozes out perfectly when you cut the whole thing in half.
While it was slightly dry (but still moist), the egg yolk complemented the texture of the savory muffin perfectly. I saw a couple of reviews saying that their Rebel Within was served cold (weird)… I just asked for them to warm it up!
Side: It feels more like a dense biscuit than a fluffy muffin.
Anyways, I came to Craftsman and Wolves JUST to try it…
and then I ended up getting a Haute Dog too.
The Haute Dog is an all-beef hot dog baked into a mustard-seed croissant/bun, topped with whole grain mustard, and house-made salt and vinegar beet chips. ($6.50)
Side: Have you ever put chips in your sandwich as a kid? Well, it’s kinda like that, but on a hot dog.
It’s super plump and tasty, the buttery croissant-like bun has the right amount of flakey-ness, and texture is slightly crunchy. It’s so damn good it hurts.

Anyways,
Whether you’re a tourist or SF local, you should DEFINITELY visit Craftsman & Wolves.
If not for the Rebel Within or the Haute Dog…
Do it for the #foodporn:
Strawberries + Cream Cake Bar: Made with pain de genes (almond cake), topped with sablé breton (French butter cookie), strawberry cremeux, strawberries, raspberry shavings and flower petals
A colorful sprinkling of vegetable “confetti” tops this savory croissant, filled with ham, cheese and a harissa glaze.
A chocolate croissant
Pastry Chef William Werner just kills it when it comes to all things pastry. He was mentored at The French Laundry (one of the best restaurants in the world), then went on to become the pastry chef at Quince (2 star Michelin). He ventured off and opened Craftsman and Wolves in 2012 and has been the talk of the town ever since.
They are open 7 days a week, serving customers and tourists from early breakfast hours to early evenings.
So yeah… Go to Craftsman and Wolves for some major food porn.
Enjoy!

I loveeeeee this place! This was on the top of my list to visit in SF. I also came here just for the Rebel Within and it was delicious! I wish they would open one up closer to me in LA.
