Carbs please. I’m introducing you to a massive carbs overload.
I mean, it’s almost summer here in Cali so I probably shouldn’t overdose on carbs.
But… the Sourdough Bread tho. Please look at it. It’s just…too.freakin.cute.
Maybe the cuteness will stop me from eating it.
Anyway, Boudin is located at the wharf along San Francisco’s Pier 39, a place where tourists from all over the world flock to when they visit this awesome city. Boudin has a bakery, restaurant, shopping area, loaded bar, and museum. (see pics below)
So is it a tourist trap?
Yes.
Is it the best sourdough bread?
Only the best ever! & you can watch them make it too.
They have a 30-foot observation window outside that lets you watch Boudin bakers craft batches of bread by hand. They also have a Museum & Bakery Tour upstairs where you have a 360 view of the bakery production line down below (it’s $3 to enter, but free if you tell them you’re eating at the bistro).
Which brings me to next point. The Bistro Boudin. This is located upstairs.
We had the sourdough pepperoni pizza, fried calamari, but there’s really only one thing I want to talk about here. And that’s the Sourdough Bread Bowl with CRAB BISQUE <– do not mistake this with clam chowder. When you think of “bread bowls” you usually think of clam chowder. But honestly, the clam chowder here is…meh. super liquidy. not enough clams. Just a bad idea. This crab & corn bisque is what you should get instead.
This was Ah-Mazing! It was super flavorful, full of crab meat and lots of corn. Once you finish the soup –> dig into the bread bowl that’s been soaking in crab bisque. Yum.
I just had it yesterday and I want it again.
But I know I shouldn’t.
It’s almost bikini season.

Headed to Peking House in Royal Oak for some carryout. I swear they have the best Chinese food.
Love their bread! I’ve never tried eating at the restaurant though. How were the prices?
Honestly, the food was overpriced. The only thing I would go back for is the Sourdough Bread Bowl with Crab Bisque. It’s worth it!
It’s a great place to take your kids. My 6 year old loves taking home a turtle bread!
