Have u guys ever been to a jazz bar?
It’s dark. Intimate. Sexy. And full of character.
There’s nothing better than live music, drinks, and small bites. I’m all about it.
Black Cat, a new spot in the Tenderloin, came through BIG TIME.
It’s so unique and elegant in many different ways.
The upstairs lounge has a huge bar in the middle, with tables surrounding glass windows. But where you really want to be is downstairs.
There’s a stairwell that leads you down into a main stage and a second bar. It’s MUCH more cozy down here. (PS: When you make your reservation, ask for a table with the couches directly facing the stage. These tables are also good for groups of 4-5 people).
It has a speakeasy feel, with sexy, chic decor and underground vibes.
Definitely come here for the music, stay for the drinks and good company. The food on the other hand, is a hit or miss.
TBH, it was underwhelming and pricey.
The most impressive thing on the menu was this smoked trout and caviar toast made with eggs, toasted challah dill, capers and fennel ($12)
Everything else fell short:
This chicken fried rabbit had a rubbery texture ($18).
And these lamb meatballs came out cold ($18)
So to sum it all up:
If you’re into live music, hit up Black Cat to jump start your night out. It’s perfect for date-night or with a group of friends!

Shouldn’t the title have used the word “swanky”?
Yes! Thank you <3
Thanks for the rec! I made a reservation for my BF’s birthday this past weekend, and we both loved it!
How much are the drinks here compared to other bars?
It’s avg for San Francisco. But some drinks are definitely on the pricier side!
Your pics look amazing! How did you get your photos to turn out?? It was so dark when I went :(
Thank you! It was also super dark for me. I took some of my dishes next to a lamp haha
Whoa this place sounds really cool. Do you have to pay cover to get in?
Yes there is a small cover charge for the band
