20th Century Cafe is an Instagram Fantasyland

No joke, this place is awesome.

It’s an Eastern European-inspired cafe/eatery in Hayes Valley.

If the staff dressed in full on 1950’s retro attire + over sized pointy glasses isn’t picture worthy enough, there’s also tons of natural lighting illuminating the beautifully baked goods placed on a large marble counter.

And YESSS. You read that right. Everyone here is dressed up in super cute 20th century outfits.

You can even watch them bake up a storm right behind the kitchen counter. If that isn’t Insta-worthy, I don’t know what is.

Basically, it’s one of the cutest cafes I’ve ever been to AND it’s a perfect spot for my weekly coffee date with Katey of  Yurkstyle.com.

Not only is the place visually appealing, so is the food.

The lox bagel is one of my favs:

You get to choose your bagel. Then they top it with smoked salmon, cream cheese, pickled shallots and dill. (open faced $11/ closed $8)

But if there’s ONE thing you should get here, it’s ALL about the Russian Honey Cake!! ($7)

You get layers on layers on layers of cake and caramelized honey cream in between.

It’s light, fluffy and flavorful without being too sweet.

Side: This was featured on 7×7 on their annual list of 100 things to eat before you die.

Which means, you gotta come try it.

No doubt, their house-made granola is delish. But honestly, for $7 I’d rather spend it on another piece of that honey cake!

So. To sum it all up, if you love Pinterest-Instagram worthy places, then this place is for you!

They also offer a ton of other lunch items like salads, soups, sandwiches, and baked delights.

Here’s some other Insta pics for your entertainment.

Another spot to try! You are making my foodie list so long. I still have yet to try the pastries from Mr. Homles bakehouse and toast from The Mill, and now this honeycake!

BC Advantage? LOL, how about getting some people in the Ministry of Energy and Oil and Gas Commission who know something about energy? Bunch of lumberjacks running the energy show in BC, not much chance of good policy with them, and the NDP coming to town.Experienced operators bugging out as fast as they can selling to Asians who don’t know any better, yet.
