If you’re a burrito connoisseur, you’ve probably read Business Insider’s “5 Best Burritos in America.”
La Taqueria was deemed “The Best in SF”
Welp, I think it’s bullsh*t. (sorry to all you La Taqueria lovers).
Uhm. Is it just me, or does it look… lacking?? And small? and kinda limp? But maybe they had an “off” day.
Anyways, I think there are much better places… like “El Farolito” down the street is better in terms of quality and price.
But the BEST?
Let me introduce you to “Bayshore Taqueria”
I think they serve one of the greatest burritos on the face of the planet.
Side: They are under new management with new chefs, new kitchen and a completely new menu.
This was literally the size of my fore arm… and it’s only HALF the burrito.
Like, how did I even possibly/physically eat that much? I’m still wondering.
Bayshore Taqueria has all the standard meat choices: steak, grilled chicken, chicken in red sauce, carnitas, al pastor, and pork in green sauce.
But what’s really interesting are the Taco Tuesday specials that caters to a true SF foodie’s palate.
Guest Chef, Ernesto Balderramos has been making an appearance every Tuesday, creating crazy fusion burritos that you can’t get anywhere else.
One week was a crispy pork belly burrito (OMG sooo F’ing crispy), second week was a kalbi burrito (I die), this week was a chicken adobo burrito (pic above). Specials can also be served as a bowl, specialty plate or as tacos.
So to sum it all up:
Bayshore Taqueria is a quick and cheap Mexican joint that serves quality fresh food that you can taste. Their Tuesday fusion specials are everything!!
And despite the fact that they are located right off the Cesar Chavez exit (traffic hours= the worst), it won’t matter in the slightest after you take a bite of your burrito: every bite is filled with hefty slabs of meat, guac, rice, pico, cheese, sour cream and salsa.
Tip: Avoid high traffic hours, unless it’s on your way home from work… then it’s the PERFECT spot to kill time with a drink and burrito in hand.
PS: If you want dessert afterwards, drive down the street to Mitchells Ice Cream (best in the city!)

What a cool find! Thanks for this, I’ll be sure to check them out.
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoy :)
Damn that burrito does look huge! What did you think of the adobo burrito? Sounds interesting, but not sure how it is as a burrito.
It was bomb! They flavors worked really well together :)
I too HATE how much hype the Taquerias in the Mission get. They simply aren’t good. I’m from San Diego, so I know damn well what a good burrito is. I can’ t wait to try Bayshore, it looks ridiculously good. Love your blog, keep up the good work!
Thanks so much! I’m also from San Diego, they’ve definitely got the best California burritos, ugh craving one right now!
I also think La Taqueria is over rated. There’s many other places in the Mission that are better and they give you more meat. While I haven’t been to Bayshore, that picture looks like they really do pack on the heat!
Yah, totally agree! There’s still many places in the Mission I need to check out too. You should def visit Bayshore, you won’t be disappointed!
