What do you get when you add macaroni to your grilled cheese sandwich? Heaven on earth. That’s what.
I don’t think I can ever eat a regular grilled cheese sandwich again. Like, everyone on the face of this planet (living in SF), should have a bite of this grilled cheese.
Every bite is perfectly crisp, the bread is toasted and buttery and the center is superbly molten. It also comes with ONE strawberry, sometimes an apple and sometimes grapes. So if you’re worried about having an unhealthy meal- don’t. There’s fruit. lol.
If you’re feeling basic, you can always get the regular grilled cheese sandwich for $7 bucks. It comes with Tillamook cheddar, creamy havarti, and Monterey jack cheese on Artisan sourdough.
But if you’re like me, and you want to try something besides the macaroni grilled cheese, you GOTTA get this:
It’s called the Adam’s Reuben ($12)– New York pastrami, stout mustard, brussels “kraut”, bread n butter pickles, garlic butter, on a local rye bread, served with house made Russian dressing.
Side: for fellow foodies and Instagram lovers, hold it up and take a #foodporn pic of it like this:
Looks bomb right? Don’t question, just get it.
The American Grilled Cheese Kitchen serves up some of the best grilled cheese in San Francisco. They also have breakfast sandwiches ($6- $7.50) available until 11am weekdays and 1pm on weekends. If you come here during happy hour between 3-5, you get $2 off beers and wine.
Sooooo. What’s better than grilled cheese? — MACARONI grilled cheese!!! Maybe even the Adam’s Reuben or maybe the Jalapeno Popper grilled cheese sandwich. You just can’t go wrong with anything here. Trust me, it’s all bomb diggity.
PS: This is the perfect spot to grab lunch before you head over to the Giants game!

This place is always busy during lunch time, I always go a little before or after the SOMA lunch crowd.
Those are the best times to go!
Have you been to The Melt? I wonder how they compare??
No I haven’t been, but will definitely try them out :)
I just found out that it’s only a few blocks down from where I work! A place dedicated to grilled cheese sounds both fantastic and dangerous for my diet.
haha, it’s only down the street from where I LIVE! So I feel your pain lol
