It’s like, kinda weird how overly excited I get when I find a restaurant I really like.
You woulda thought I had just woke up and lost 10lbs over night!
But seriously. Soulva is one of those places for me because everything is SOOOO good and fresh!
It’s a super cute Greek fast-casual restaurant in Hayes Valley serving up some of the best Greek food in SF.
You place your order at the counter, grab a number, and your food is quickly brought out to you. I came here with my girl Melissa (<– awesome photog, check out her blog HERE), and we were able to snag a seat at the bar counter facing the chickens roasting in the back.
PS: if you wear a ton of make-up or sweat easily, I would NOT recommend this seat.
Their menu is simple. You choose your protein (chicken, lamb, pork, roasted white sweet potato) then decide whether you want a salad or sandwich version.
Pork: American homestead pork shoulder with minted Greek yogurt, cherry tomatoes, pickled red onions, cucumbers and feta cheese
Chicken: Mary’s free range chicken with “granch” dressing, fennel, navel oranges, pickled red onions, pea shoots and mizithra cheese
Lamb (my FAV): Superior farms lamb leg with harissa-spiked yogurt, cucumber, radish, pickled red onion and feta cheese.
For a party in your mouth x a million, go for the gyro. (full menu HERE)
Firstly, this little number is filled with meat and toppings. Like FILLEDDDD! Second, it makes for a great photo :)
Side note: if you follow me on Snapchat (cyneats), then you saw the whole thing go down… like literally all over the table & floor lol. So lesson: don’t tip your gyro over too much when you’re holding it while taking pics.
For a healthier version, their salads do not disappoint (another huge portion!)
Oh, and if you THINK you’ll still be hungry, get a side of fries. So bomb that I could have eaten the whole basket to myself.
And here’s what it looks like inside:
BTW- this is what I have to deal with ALL THE TIME. People staring at me… lol.
I wasn’t even taking food pics!
So to sum it all up:
If you’re looking for a quick lunch spot, go to Souvla.
I mean, it’s basically the main reason I ever go to Hayes Valley.
JK. Smitten Ice cream is right around the corner too.
