Outerlands- one of San Francisco’s best brunch spots

  Posted by - May 31, 2015 - $ (0-20), Daytime, Restaurants, San Francisco

I know, I know. I’m a day late & dollar short on this post.

I mean, seriously. Could I take ANY longer to write about the food at Outerlands??

Outerlands is known as one of San Francisco’s best brunch spots.

The problem is… everyone else knows it too.

Which means: if you’re brave enough to tackle the weekend lines after 10:30 am, then you deserve a Gold metal & one hell of a meal.

But if you’re smart, you already know that the best times to go is on a weekday or during “off hours.”

I came here with Lily of (Eating Through SF), on a Wednesday at 1:30 pm, and there was no line.

Side: Even though there were plenty of open tables, we still chose to sit at the shared/communal table because it had the best lighting lol.

Foodie photo tip: you always want to face the light!

Everything we ordered was amaze and I’d come back in a heartbeat if it weren’t for those crazy lines.

Apparently their menu changes often, but they do keep a few staple items such as their famous grilled cheese sandwich for only $6.50

The bread was fluffy and thick, and melted cheese was literally oozing out the sides.

This open faced bacon and egg sandwich ($14) was my favorite thing ever. Underneath the two perfectly cooked eggs, you also get bok choy, caramelized onions, almonds and mushrooms in every bite. I’m a huge fan of spicy-anything, so I loved that they added a chill pepper on top for that extra kick.

We also got a side of bacon ($2), because… it’s bacon!

Oh yeah… and we also got this apricot donut. It was bomb.

The only thing we didn’t get to order is their famous Eggs in Jail (they only serve this on the weekends… so lame right??)

PS: this is one of the items on 7×7 Magazine’s annual list of 100 things to eat in SF before you die.

So if you do come here after reading this post, TRY IT!! And let me know how you like it lol.

Tip: Incase you guys DO come here on a weekend… and the wait times are absolutely ridic (90% probability), put your name down on the waitlist, walk a few blocks over to Trouble Coffee to kill time!

You’re welcome.

Address: 4001 Judah St/ San Francisco, CA 94122

(between 45th Ave & 46th Ave in Outer Sunset)

Ocean Beach is also just a few blocks down! If the wait gets too long, it’s also not a bad spot to kill time before and even after!

That’s a wonderful idea! I didn’t even think of that, thanks for the tip :)

You HAVE to go back for the Eggs in Jail! It’s the best thing on the menu and I get it every time. How lame that they didn’t have it when you went!!

I agree!! The eggs in jail are absolutely amazing. I remember watching your snapchat that day, where did you guys go to get the acai bowls?? They looked so good!

I just read your American Grilled Cheese post! Which one place do you like better in terms of grilled cheese?
