YOU GUYS! I am so excited to tell you about this place in LA.
It’s called KazuNori.
They specialize in one thing: delicious hand rolls.
Dude. These (toro – blue crab – lobster) hand rolls tho.
Heaven.
You can get 5 of them for less than $20 bucks AND they serve the freshest of fish.
For reals though- KazuNori is just killin it in every way (brought to you from the creators of SugarFish).
“Burritos and burgers shouldn’t be the only fast-meal option,” says Tom Nozawa, Kazunori Nozawa’s son (and co-founder of SugarFish).
The concept is simple:
1. You walk in.
2. You grab a paper & pencil. (check off what you want)
3. You find a seat(s) at the counter (first come, first serve/ 25 seats)
4. You give your paper to the sushi chef.
5. Enjoy!
It’s like the best idea ever right? I mean…
A super simple & affordable meal, with top quality ingredients, made fresh right in front of you. (I KNOW!) I’m kinda in love.
Pretty much, KazuNori is the first restaurant of its kind. They only specialize in hand rolls using specially harvested seaweed, secret house-made sauces, and their signature sushi rice.
You get to choose from a set menu of 3 or 4 or 5 hand rolls.
For instance…
3- hand rolls ($10.50): Daily hand roll, bay scallop OR cucumber hand roll, blue crab hand roll.
4- hand rolls ($13.00): Daily, salmon, bay scallop OR cucumber, blue crab
5- hand rolls ($17.50): All the above + Lobster hand roll
The *daily rolls alternate between yellowtail and toro.
And uhm…obviously, they tell you to eat it right away because the seaweed will get soggy if you let it sit for too long.
So if you’re NOT into taking #foodpics, you’re a real lucky one.
Anyways, you can also order a la carte if you’re still hungry after the 5 hand rolls.
PS: At the end of your meal, the chef will print a receipt. You will bring it to the register to pay. Gratuity is already included (16%).
To sum it all up:
This is the perfect place for a quick bite in downtown LA. It’s super affordable and everything is super fresh.
Now if only they would open one up in San Francisco…. (pretty please?)

The blue crab hand roll!!! SOOOO GOOO! The ratio of rice, seaweed and filling is perfect.
I agree! It’s my fav :)
I also was just there this past weekend!! I was visiting family in LA and my cousins took me here for lunch. We just beat the rush and got our seats without waiting long. I also wish that they would open one up near me in Seattle.
How do you find all these cool restaurants?? I follow your blog in SF, but it seems like you go to all these cool places everywhere you go!
A ton of research, reading, and yelping! lol. Thanks for the follow!
They just opened this past year, and I’ve been there way too many times to count. I’m a huge fan of Sugar Fish’s trust me menu, and this handroll idea is the best thing ever!
If I lived in the area, I’d also be there one too many times!
Did I read that right? $17.50 for five hand rolls?? That sounds so awesome! It’s perfect for a broke college like myself -_-
