I’ve been to Hong Kong every year for the past 4 years. It’s one the best culinary cities in the world to visit. I’ve also been lucky enough to fly business class a few times to Asia. When I have enough credit card points saved up, I’ll redeem them for flights and hotels (if you guys don’t already do this… you 10000% should look into it!)
The flight itself to Hong Kong is 13 hours… 13 HOURS! Yep. That’s a long ass time to be on a plane.
Now I know this may sound bougie, but I really enjoy traveling in comfort. Who wouldn’t?
Especially when I’m traveling for work, I need to be well-rested because once I’m off that plane- it’s GO time for me. Non-stop shooting content for a week straight. SO when Hong Kong airlines reached out to me for their inaugural flight from SFO to HKG, I felt extremely fortunate and humbled to be one of the first passengers on the new Airbus A350.
Too make it even sweeter, some of my BEST girlfriends were also on this trip to share the experience with me. I was beyond ecstatic! Kelly (@asideofsweet), Allie (@Allie.eats), Erica (@HonestlyWTF) and Karen (@HonestlyYUM).
THE FOOD:
Celebrity and Top Chef winner Chris Cosentino of Cockscomb and Acacia House created the in-flight dining menu for Hong Kong Airlines!!
Cosentino’s business class menu is made of 12 dishes including appetizers, main courses, and desserts that are frequently rotated. On this inaugural flight, we had the Shrimp (with sourdough crumbs, shaved parmesan, kohlrabi salad, and lemon anchovy dressing), Braised Beef Short Rib (Burgundy demi sauce with white bean puree and pickled pepper garlic broccolini), 5 Spice Aburaage (with white shirataki noodles and veggies), and Panna Cotta for dessert.
THE FLIGHT:
The flight attendants offers you a glass of welcome champagne upon arrival- a solid detail that really sets the tone for the whole business class experience.
Next to my seat was a fancy amenity kit filled with L’Occitane products, a tooth brush, eye mask and other toiletries to keep you refreshed for the next 13 hours.
Their noise-canceling headphones were comfortable and stylish, and perfect for watching movies the entire flight.
(I watched The Greatest Showman featuring Zendaya and Zac Efron. I’ve been DYING to see it, only because my BF refused to watch it with me in theaters lol.)
Now let’s talk about the seats:
THE SEATS TURN INTO A BED-!!! When you’re ready to sleep, they offer a turn-down service with bedding, pillows and blanket. These fully-flat beds combined with inflight entertainment, power outlets, vanity kits, unlimited FOOD options and exceptional customer service makes a business class ticket all worth it.
