FINALLY!
A new and sexy dinner venue that I’m SUPER EXCITED ABOUT!!
I haven’t gotten this excited about a dinner spot since…?? (crickets)
So let me get right into it and introduce you to Berber SF!
Think: live music, belly dancers, aerialists and some of the best Moroccan inspired dishes. Cool right??
This past Thursday, I was invited to their grand opening to experience the “dinner and show” at San Francisco’s newest supper club scene.
Since I was in much need of a girls night out, I invited a few friends to come along with me. As we walked in, we were greeted in the front room with a glass of champagne. We mingled around the sleek bar to the left that runs the entire length of the wall.
The front room is chic with tall ceilings and a divider that separates the bar area and the dining room on the right.
Shortly thereafter, we were escorted to the back room where the dinner and artists would be. The room felt secretive, like a speakeasy hidden away from the restaurant.
The evening started with cocktails and snacks that arrived promptly to our table. The vibe was laid-back, comfortable, and yet- that mysterious sex appeal still remained. Our table had menus, laying out a preview into the Berber inspired courses we were about to try.
$85 per person
The menu boasts of Tunisian, Morroccan, Algerian, and Libyan flavors.
Here’s a peak at the dishes:
Kesra semolina bread: nigella, mint, and organ oil
Raw beets & kohlrabi: preserved cucumber yogurt and sunflower
Zaalouk: smoky preserved eggplant salad and swiss chard
In total we had about 12 dishes, with each round of food better than the last. My favorite was the lamb tajine that came in a big pot filled with aromas and interesting flavors I’ve never tasted before.
In between courses, the performances started.
They completely blew my mind. Berber had everything from contortionists, lyra (aerial acrobat) artist, to belly dancers and an incredible clarinet performance to end the show. The music that the artists were performing to felt other-wordly, with a super sexy modern vibe to it.
I felt as if I was transported into a super secret, exclusive club in Morocco.
All in all Berber SF made girls night the best night ever. We had so much fun experiencing new dishes, trying their new cocktail menu, while being completely awed by the dancing and acrobatics. If you want to dress up for a girls night or surprise your significant other for a fun night out, then this is THE place to be.
If you guys end up going, make sure to leave me a comment below and tell me what you think!

BERBER STILL CHARGED MY FRIEND’S CREDIT CARD $800+ DOLLARS WHEN I TRIED CANCELLING BECAUSE A MEMBER OF MY FIANCE’S GROOM’S PARTY GOT HIT BY A CAR IN SF.
I wanted this review to get some attention due to the severity and lack of empathy in regards to the situation. Please continue to read for more details of this review.
I am getting married in 2 weeks and chose to have my bachelorette in SF since I spent many years in this city, some of my closest friends from here.
I was finishing up a wonderful spa session in Japantown when I received a call from my fiancé that his Best Woman had been hit by a car. My fiancé being from the Bay Area, it was natural for us to have a joint bachelor-bachelorette trip – separate activities in the day time and both parties coming together for a dinner celebration at Berber, reservations made awhile ago.
We obviously couldn’t continue the night knowing a member of our party was injured and taken to the hospital so we called Berber to cancel, explaining what had happened. I was not on the phone when the restaurant told us they had “a strict cancellation policy” and charged my friend’s credit card WITHOUT HER AUTHORIZATION.
I wondered to what degree their “strict cancellation policy” would be lifted from a similar situation? Did someone have to die? Did someone have to sustain a gunshot wound? Both scenarios are possible in a city like San Francisco.
I do not recommend a restaurant like Berber who handled this situation so POORLY with no empathy. If they needed to see proof, we would’ve provided evidence like photos from the almost hit & run, Best Woman on the ground injured as pedestrians nearby rushed to the scene and were so helpful in calling the cops, ambulance and taking photos of the car who hit my friend, hospital visit documents – but NO, they simply turned their noses up and with their snobbish response, immediately charged the credit card moments after we got off the phone with them.
